To celebrate #Inktober month, I'm throwing a sale of more than 50% discount for all my original Black and White ink drawings/illustrations and sketches including new commissions.

Sizes A5 and smaller go for USD15 excluding postage rates.

Sizes between A5 and A4 go for USD20 excluding postage rates.

Throw in another USD5 and you get a short handwritten poem crafted specially for the drawing.

As always, I do international delivery.

All artworks in my albums are for sale unless stated otherwise.There are some pieces currently on display in Perth and you can have them if you don't mind waiting for a while for me to get it back. If you find something you really like and it's not for sale or it's Sold, you can commission for something similar.

Dutch Coffee. Coffee + Art. Gothicism and Akma

My mornings do not stir alive without a cup of coffee.

I love coffee. It is the love potion that awakens me to write, paint and be creative. My recent encounters of coffee include coffee that uses the cold drip method, where coffee droplets are dripped through filters of cold drip coffee makers, forming rich coffee juice. The long process results in Dutch Coffee.  

Dutch Coffee. These two words tantalise my senses as I think of the taste in my mouth. In fact, I am craving for it at this very instant as good Dutch Coffee is unavailable in Sarawak, where I am residing now as a full time artist and writer; at least not to my knowledge. Please enlighten me if you do.

I first tasted 3B INC (Three Bears Dutch Coffee) last year during a visit in KL. The premium black coffee laced my tongue with a whiskey-like flavour. I also tried the ones that came with milk. Delicious and rich but not heavy, Dutch Coffee has a slight distinctive flavour from other coffee that I've tasted. I discovered that Will Jung, a Korean coffee expert is the founder of Three Bears and I secretly hope that he will introduce Dutch Coffee to Sarawak.

You can probably already guess that Coffee + Art brings delight to me. I stumbled upon Coffee + Art in its finest beauty. Dutch Lab from Korea has created Dutch Coffee makers that resemble exquisite displays of art.

The designs under the Steampunk line struck me with awe especially at the intricacy of the details which reminded me of Gothic Cathedrals that I’ve visited abroad. Beyond beautiful, its structure is strong, delicately assembled and built to make more coffee in less time as compared to other cold drip coffee makers. It enables one to make up to 3000 ml of coffee at one given time with a three litre water tank, three coffee tanks for 100 to 150 grams of coffee grounds and three 1,000 ml coffee servers.

The names Gothicism and Akma under the Steampunk range reveals the splendour of the creations developed by Korean’s young industrial and architectural designers with inputs from famous Seoul barista, Jae Wong Kwak. Gothicism exudes features of medieval cathedrals. The pointed arches, rose windows and towering spires are some of the characters thrown into the appearance. The word, Akma came from the Korean word ‘devil’ to display the dark and sharp elements although to me personally, it bears nothing devilish. It is in fact, elegant and angelic but solemn, which commands a certain reverence to it.

The main structure is built from anodized aluminium that has been laser cut to complement the brass needle valves and borosilicate glass tubes. Aluminium prevents rusting while anodizing ensures long lasting usage. This three legged coffee-making monument is not only striking and stable but also user-friendly.

 I am amazed to find out that these art pieces have travelled to many exhibitions abroad including Netherlands, China and etc. Let's hope they come to Malaysia!

Needless to say, it is also expensive but that is true of every masterpiece in art.

After watching the video below of how the conceptual ideas were birthed, I felt like owning one of these pieces even though I do not make coffee.

A Little Update from me

It has been a long while since I step into my cavern.

Last year has been amazing. I have climbed a little up the stairs of my dreams, immersion into the world of Arts and Poetry.

I was invited to Africa twice. Once as a performer/storyteller in a musical play entitled Basadi Balefatshe in South Africa and later in the year, as a guest poet for Maun International Arts Festival, Botswana. Both proved to be enriching experiences. I have met incredible souls and talented poets. They fueled my passion to reach out in arts and poetry. The power of the spoken word brings healing, encouragement as well as educating in the form of entertainment. God truly entrust each person with different talents to bless the world.

Back in my homeland, we started the World Arts Convention 2014, the first of its kind in Borneo. At the same time, we hosted Malaysia's Biggest 3D Mural Art in a mall. The aim is to elevate the appreciation of arts in the local society. 

I am also very grateful for all who has supported me in my arts; buying my paintings and drawings as well as commissioning me to paint. The start of this year has proved to be fruitful too. I sell at least one painting a month. That's a progress for me ;) We even painted a mural art as part of a community project in Kenyalang earlier this year.

A shout out to God above for guiding me towards a narrower, less travelled path in fulfilling my purpose in life. If I can just reach one soul through one painting or a poem be it in Africa, Korea or Russia, my mission is accomplished. Do pray for me as I continue to sow peace, hope, love and light through my arts.

The Great Expectation

This was a snapshot from my phone on a recent doodle I did in my sketchbook while I was enjoying a holiday with my family after Christmas Day.

Who's expecting? My sister! I'll be a proud aunt soon.

We were enjoying the view of the beach from our balcony in the resort. She was quietly reading and as I soaked in the picturesque waves raging on the shore, I noticed how calm and glowing she was in the midst of a coming storm! I can't help but did a quick sketch out of that. By the way, the coconut trees were swaying mad as the wind blew and howled like a mad hurricane.

Besides expecting to welcome a newborn baby into our family, there are many expectations I have set aside for myself this year. I hope to eat less or at least more healthily, pray more, love more, write more, read more, paint more, exercise more and most of all, I hoped my writings and paintings worked out this year! Hopefully, I will get that first novel published. Still working on it. I expect to be more patient on myself and that I may find joy in all that I do. 

There are of course storms and tsunamis that might unexpectedly turn up on our doorsteps like cancer, deaths, financial loss, natural disasters, conflicts and etc. Are we prepared to face them? I believe we would never be 100% prepared for such an unforeseen event. No matter what catastrophe this year might bring us, let us stay calm and let the storm passed us by. Everything would eventually pass.

Shall I keep writing even in the midst of a million hurdles to overcome with pain and stress surrounding me? Of course! You should too...keep writing, painting and do whatever that you love doing for the very act itself could build a fortress for you to lean back and watch the storm with gratitude!

Twist with Kolo Mee

This is another artwork exhibited at Lov Gallery for the Lov Kuching exhibition. 

Again, food is my main inspiration for this painting!

Twist with Kolo Mee is an acrylic painting portraying the playful and laidback persona
 of Kuching indulging in its addictive Kolo Mee, the love of many Kuching people. 
Just like the other artwork, the background’s symbolic shades are derived from 
colours often used to depict Kuching and Sarawak, mainly from the hornbill and the 
Sarawak flag.

Festivals galore enchant the world in meek Kuching,

Travellers from afar fall in love or have a fling,

Still the heart of chaos and worries for both you and me,

Break free from the norm, laugh and dare twist like kolo mee

Dance with Laksa

This is one of the paintings that I have recently put up for an exhibition at Lov Gallery. The theme of the exhibition was Lov Kuching. What's more inspiring than food in Kuching? So, this one's dedicated for food lovers.

This acrylic piece is inspired by one of Kuching’s most popular delicacies, the famous Sarawak Laksa and the love of festivals. Every year, festivals like the ‘Kuching Food Fest’ and the ‘Rainforest World Music Festival’ are celebrated in glory. Dance with Laksa incorporates the love of festivals expressed through a dancing girl into the enjoyment of this exotic dish.

Lov Kuching Exhibition

I'll be showcasing my paintings in an upcoming exhibition which starts from 9 November till 1 December. It will be officially launched tomorrow and open to public on Saturday.

Along with other local artists, we will be displaying artworks about our beloved city, Kuching. Hence, the title of the exhibition is Lov Kuching. It also happens to be Lov Gallery's first exhibition.
