Come Away with Me

It is Sunday.
Let us take a break from the careers, noises, worries and cares of everyday life.
Remember the story of Martha and Mary? Sometimes we are so busy with everything else that we forget the single most important thing..that is to be connected to God, to abide in Him and to rest in Him. Even Jesus needed a break.

Mark 6:31 says "Jesus said to them, `Come away with me. Let us go alone to a quiet place and rest for a while.' Many people were coming and going. They could not even eat.

Even in the midst of busyness and endless caring of other people's needs, we need to be alone for a while so that God can fill us with His love. You can't run a car on an engine without fuel. You can't fly a plane without a pilot. God's our pilot and we need His love to fuel us up!

Sometimes God desperately wants to speak to us but because we are bombarded by noises from Ipods and Ipads, dramas and MTVS, Facebook and Twitter, even television and magazines that we often fail to listen to the gentle voice speaking to us.

1 Kings 19:11-13 says that the Lord speaks gently,
"The Lord said, “Go out and stand on the mountain in the presence of the Lord, for the Lord is about to pass by.”
Then a great and powerful wind tore the mountains apart and shattered the rocks before the Lord, but the Lord was not in the wind. After the wind there was an earthquake, but the Lord was not in the earthquake.  After the earthquake came a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire. And after the fire came a gentle whisper.  When Elijah heard it, he pulled his cloak over his face and went out and stood at the mouth of the cave.
Then a voice said to him, “What are you doing here, Elijah?”"

At times, the Lord wants you to go through the 'desert' of life where you will experience emptiness and dryness so He can speak to you. If youre feeling broken and weak, go somewhere and take a retreat. It is not a bad thing to be alone for a while. Let God speak to you.

Hosea 2:14 "Therefore I am now going to allure her; I will lead her into the wilderness and speak tenderly to her.

Rest a while...
Take a break from the noises and busyness of the world...
Rest in the arms of the One who loves you most and longs to give you rest...

Matt 11:28-30 “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.  Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”
